Buying a web address (or a domain name) is REALLY simple, and I would advise anyone who does anything online to do it simply for online branding purposes. (do a search for your name and if it’s available, buy it! Something awful, and kind of naughty happened to my name, so I suggest you do it as soon as possible)
There are a number of places you can buy a web address and if you’re simply buying a web address, you can purchase one from any of the links below.
Godaddy
I personally LOVE godaddy. They manage all of my domains, and they’re very thorough when it comes to sending you reminders and cancellation notices.
Cost: $8-$12 per year
Namecheap
Good, cheap place to get domain names. Thus, Namecheap!
Cost: $8-$12 per year
1and1.com
This place is pretty decent. I have a number of blogs and urls registered here. Very good, reliable service. But you may as well buy hosting as well as a url while you’re at it.
Cost: $8-$12 per year
Now, if you need hosting as WELL as a web address, you can buy a hosting package and your domain name is just rolled into the price of the purchase. That ROCKS! Hosting and domain name registration at the same time? Get out! The best thing about doing it this way is the domain name is automatically connected to your site, so you don’t have to go through effort of connecting your site later on by modify the Domain Name Server (DNS) settings. (I know, I know, keep it simple). Below is a good listing of providers where you can buy hosting a domain name together.
Host | Cost | Link |
Bluehost | 4-6$/month | |
IPower.com | 4-6$/Month
EasyCgi | 8$/month | |
SiteGround | 4-6$/month
1and1.com | 3-7$/month | |
Godaddy.com | 2-20$/month |
